About Yanks Registry
Yanks Registry is a moderated, public catalog of audio software: vendors, their products, the plugin formats they ship, the identifiers those plugins carry, known releases and where to find them.
It is the public part of Yanks (Yet Another Needed Kit Software), a local-first inventory of the audio software on your machine. Yanks works completely without the registry; with it enabled, it downloads this catalog and recognizes your plugins by their identifiers on your computer. The registry never learns what you have installed.
How data gets here
Contributors and moderators enter vendors, products and releases as drafts. Only what a moderator publishes appears on this site and in the API. Every change is recorded with who made it and when.
API
A read-only JSON API serves the same published data, for Yanks and other tools:
- GET /api/v1/vendors
- GET /api/v1/products
- GET /api/v1/releases
- GET /api/v1/products/{id}
The lists are paged (cursor, limit) and can return only what changed (updated_since, RFC 3339, including removed entries as {"id": "...", "deleted": true}). Requests are rate-limited per address.
Privacy
The public site and the API set no cookies and need no account. The server logs requests (path, status, address) for operation and abuse protection. Moderators sign in with a session cookie.
